Frank West Memorial Tournament

IMG_6331.PNG

The Frank West Tournament honors the legacy of Frank West, a Massena athlete, coach, husband, and father who embodied teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship.

Although he saw limited playing time on the Massena varsity basketball team, Frank's commitment and positive attitude made him the ultimate team player. Later, he devoted himself to coaching young athletes, often going above and beyond to support his players both on and off the court.

After his passing from cancer in 1989, the Massena Biddy Basketball Association established the Frank West Tournament in 1990 to celebrate the values he represented: teamwork, effort, inclusion, and a love of the game.

Today, the tournament continues to honor his lasting impact on the Massena basketball community.

The tournament is open to 5-6th grade travel teams

The George Trippany Classic

The George Trippany Classic honors the life and legacy of George Trippany Sr., a lifelong supporter of Massena athletics who dedicated more than six decades to coaching, mentoring, and inspiring young athletes.

A Holy Family High School graduate, George volunteered at every level of basketball, from youth programs to the varsity team, and became known for his leadership, fairness, strong work ethic, and genuine care for his players.

Beyond basketball, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and community supporter who could often be found cheering on local teams.

By naming this tournament in his honor, the Massena Basketball Association recognizes George’s lasting impact on generations of athletes and his commitment to sportsmanship, teamwork, and community.

The tournament is open to 7-8th grade travel teams
